Steelhenge

2015 | ,

Concept

A perambulation with ‘the dark side of Stonehenge’ – two broken circles of steel pillars with one side destroyed and made into a wall welded together by unknowable forces. At the centre of the structure – in a space with an eerie, imposing, and claustrophobic atmosphere – you could sit in a red spotlight and watch others move like shadows between the pillars of steel. Alone, yet not alone. Disturbed, yet not disturbed.

Background

Create a site-specific art installation at the Mørke Dage arts and music festival that would fit the theme of exploring the darkness within us. A large and dimly lit empty space was at our disposal, and we discovered 40 discarded steel lockers destined for recycling that we decided to use.
